Bell Elementary Counselor Megan McDougal named Elementary School Counselor of the Year
Bell Elementary School Counselor Megan McDougal has been named the Elementary School Counselor of the Year. She found out she won the award on November 7 at the NSCA Annual School Counselor Academy.
Tasha Osten of Raymond Central Public School District was named Middle School Counselor of the Year and Loni Watson of Chadron Public School District was announced as High School Counselor of the Year.
Each school counselor of the year was selected for their exemplary implementation of a comprehensive school counselor program that supports all students in their respective buildings in the areas of academic achievement, career readiness, and social-emotional learning.
“I want those that nominated me and supported me to know how sincerely grateful I feel and deeply humbled I am that they saw something in me that I did not see in myself,” McDougal said.
She will be honored at a formal dinner in February at which time, she has a chance of winning the overall Nebraska School Counselor of the Year competition, which is sponsored by the American School Counselor Association.
McDougal is the first to win this award from PLCS.
