The sixth-grade teachers at Rumsey Station Elementary counted down to winter break with a fun holiday themed STEAM unit (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics).

The students had to solve several different challenges that involve Vladimir the Science Reindeer who needed help at the North Pole!

The challenges include the following: students used spaghetti and mini marshmallows to create a new storage facility to help the elves store more toys, they designed a new toy for the elves to make for Santa, they created a trap to capture Ernie the Evil Elf who plays with the toys and breaks them.

The students had five minutes to plan their project then 25 minutes to build their toy.
