La Vista West teacher Dylan Doggett is Oct. PLCS Great Superintendent Award winner
(Dylan Doggett, a teacher at La Vist West Elem. wins the Oct. PLCS Great Superintendent Award)
La Vista West Elementary Special Education Teacher Dylan Doggett has been named the October PLCS Great Superintendent Award winner.
She received her award on Friday, October 18 from PLCS Superintendent Dr. Andy Rikli. The nomination form for this award can be found here.
The hallways were lined with cheering students as Dr. Rikli led the way to Doggett's classroom.
Doggett could not stop smiling as Dr. Rikli explained why he and other central office employees were in her classroom.
"We get a lot of nominations every single month for the PLCS Great Awards," Rikli explained.
"For the month of October, as the team was reviewing all of the different nominations, your name was selected above all others to represent the entire school district for PLCS Great."
He told her that a colleague had nominated her.
"As we were reading all of the different nominations, this one really resonated with us," he said.
With eyes filling with tears, Doggett looked around the room, still a little bewildered by all of the attention.
Dr. Rikli continued saying the following:
"In the nomination from your colleague, it talked about Ms. Doggett being extremely compassionate, she's committed, and if her students were having any type of challenges, she feels like it is her job to remove those barriers to learning, that's one of the things that makes her so exceptional. The other thing this nomination letter talked about, was her ability to form really close relationships with her students and parents and that is what we hope for all of our teachers. What makes all of this so remarkable is not only is Ms. Doggett new to this building, but she is brand new to this district. She came with teaching experience from Omaha Public Schools, but for a first-year district teacher to do what you have accomplished in such a short amount of time is really remarkable."
Doggett received a $100.00 gift card courtesy of Shadow Lake Town Center, a candy bouquet, and will be featured in a video profiling her story and journey as a teacher.
Congratulations!
