Walnut Creek Elementary School was chosen as a recipient of a $350 grant from the Nebraska Arts Council to take their fifth graders to "Link Up" with the Omaha Symphony.
The grant will support the cost of admission and the bus.
"We are thrilled to be able to offer this one-of-a-kind experience for our fifth graders," Walnut Creek Elementary Principal Jaime Bizal said.
"To have these talented, accomplished members of the Omaha Symphony work with our young students inspires a new generation of musicians. It will be a memorable experience and we are grateful to the Nebraska Arts Council for providing this opportunity to our students.”
Nebraska Arts Council Executive Director Suzanne Wise commented the following: "Walnut Creek Elementary School contributes a great deal to the advancement of the arts in Papillion and La Vista. We commend the work being done by organizations such as Walnut Creek Elementary because the arts are so important to the education and quality of life for all Nebraskans."
The students will attend the Omaha Symphony on Wednesday, April 1, 2020.
