PLHS math teacher named first-ever PLCS Great Superintendent award winner
Papillion La Vista High School math teacher Angela Hathaway was stunned Friday morning as the PLCS superintendent, her principal carrying boxes of donuts, assistant principals, and other central office employees flooded into her classroom.
"What's going on?" students asked their teacher but she only looked bewildered and shrugged her shoulders.
It turns out, out of dozens of nominations, Hathaway had been chosen as the first-ever #PLCSGreat Superintendent award winner. She was nominated by a parent who was appreciative of how much she went out of her way to help a student get caught up in the subject after moving into the district.
She was given a candy bouquet with a gift card provided by Shadow Lake Towne Center, donuts for her classroom, and will be featured in video profile that will be sent out to all staff and parents.
"Thank you so very much to our entire district!" Hathaway said in response to the outpouring of support.
"I work with so many wonderful and deserving teachers and staff. To be given this award today is truly a blessing. Thank you so much to Dr. Rikli and all of my wonderful Monarch leaders for your support. A special thank you to the parent who nominated me. It is your children who make my job so special."
Hathaway is the first of many staff members who will be recognized once a month for going above and beyond.
