La Vista Middle School participates in Penny Wars for good cause
Students at La Vista Middle School participated in a Penny Wars to help support Leukemia and Lymphoma Society cancer research. The fundraiser was organized by the student council.
Students in advisory classes decorated their own Penny Wars boxes and are competing against each other to see who can raise the most money.
Silver coins and dollar bills counted against the number of pennies in each box. Students were allowed to sabotage other teams and put silver coins and dollar bills in others’ boxes.
The winning team won an Olive Garden lunch, the team with the highest penny count wins a movie and popcorn day. The students will also have an opportunity to put their name in a hat to win the ability to pie their principal and SRO.
The goal of the fundraiser was to raise $1,000 and the school surpassed that by raising $1,352.87.
