La Vista Middle School donates 200 items, raises money for flood victims
La Vista Middle School students and staff sprang into action when they heard about the flooding disasters in Nebraska. The character trait at the school for March was "be helpful", which means taking care of each other and the community, and that is what the school set out to do. During the week of March 25-29, they collected donations for those families in need.
Students from different clubs (NJHS, Student Council, Circle of Freinds, GSA, Spirit Squad, etc) collected supplies in the cafeteria each morning before school. They asked for cleaning supplies, drinks, snacks, and personal care items.
Overall, the school community was able to collect 200 items to donate to the Salvation Army as well as $210 in cash during the last week of March.
