Trumble Park Celebrates Community Heroes

Trumble Park 6th graders created signs and arranged a drive-by to thank first responders in a celebration of community heroes. The event was part of the school’s “Kindness is Your Superpower” day for Read Across America Week, for which the kids and staff were encouraged to dress up as community heroes like first responders and nurses.

Students expressed how it felt meaningful to be able to thank under-appreciated community servants in this way. “It felt really good, just to honor them,” said one student.

“We’re incredibly thankful we’ve been in school this whole time, this whole year since day one,” said Trumble Park principal Ami Nichols. “Just to have our kids here and to overcome the challenges that the pandemic presented, and see our kids grow and learn is really exciting. We couldn’t do that without our community heroes.”

The drive-by was attended by parents, media, and Papillion Police Department.
