Firefighters from the Papillion Fire Department visited Papillion La Vista Community Schools’ elementary buildings in Papillion and La Vista throughout October for Fire Prevention Month safety talks.
Students became familiar with the firefighters, fire engine and the gear used to keep firefighters safe. They also learned what to do during a fire and how to take preventatives steps to avoid starting a fire. Older students also learned about a day in the life of a firefighter and the importance of math and other academic subjects to anyone aspiring to a career in firefighting.
