Parkview Heights Elementary student council donates more than $1k through 'April Madness' fundraiser
The Parkview Heights Elementary School student council organized an "April Giving Madness" fundraiser to raise money for flood victims within the district following the historic flooding in Nebraska and surrounding states in late March.
The students used a "March Madness" inspired bracket system, they raised money $1,320.53 to the Papillion La Vista Foundation student emergency fund.
"The flooding was really bad in Nebraska," said fifth-grader Caroline Williams.
"It's important because they are a part of our community," 6th grader Nora Gunn said. "They are just like us. If we were in that kind of situation, we know they would help us."
They presented the check to the foundation at the end of April.
