PLHS, PLSHS compete at NE Thespian Festival

Thespian festival

Both Papillion La Vista South High school and Papillion La Vista High School competed in the Nebraska State Thespian Festival held in Omaha at the Double Tree Hotel and Holland Performing Arts Center in Omaha on January 2, 3 and 4. 

The following are their results:


  • The troupe banner won 1st place.
  • Gabe Culp (sophomore) auditioned for a Playworks (new script) and was selected to act in a staged reading on Saturday. We were very excited for him.

Several students competed in individual events and many received Superiors to move on to International Festival.
Those receiving Superiors were:

  • Rider Matheis (senior)
  • Harley Tangeman (senior)
  • Kevin Bray (senior)
  • Kylie Gruver-Munoz (junior)

  • Aimee Correa- Solo Musical Theatre
  • Julia Vanderloo-Solo Musical Theatre
  • Rachel Spinks-Solo Musical Theatre
  • Jacob Leuck- Duet Musical Theatre
  • Payton Johnson-Solo Musical theatre
  • Emily DeZafra & Payton Johnson-Duet Musical Theatre
  • Julia Vanderloo & Jacob Leuck- Duet Musical Theatre

Emily DeZafra & Payton Johnson were also chosen as one of the best performances and performing on main stage showcase for the festival at closing ceremonies.

McKinzy Scheiding, Hannah Reynolds, Ashley Gast, Charlie Anderson were chosen to be a part of the play works cast.
