Papillion Middle School Robotics Students Put Their Code to the Test, 9/10/2026

Seventh-grade Robotics students at Papillion Middle School are getting hands-on experience with computer programming, translating their coding work into real-world results. After writing robotic code on their Chromebooks, students in Ms. Froistad's class downloaded their programs directly into robots to see whether their commands would hold up in practice.

The assignment challenged students to program their robots to follow a specific path, a task that required more than just technical know-how. Along the way, students worked through trial and error, troubleshooting their code when the robot didn't move as expected and refining their commands until the path was completed successfully. Once a team achieved a successful run, they recorded the robot in action to submit for review and grading.

Robotics is offered as an elective option for middle school students, giving them the chance to explore an interest area outside the core curriculum. Papillion Middle School offers a wide range of elective courses, allowing students to sample different subjects and discover potential interests well before they begin narrowing their focus in high school.

Through courses like Robotics, PLCS continues to give students early exposure to computer science and engineering concepts, building foundational skills in logic, persistence, and problem-solving that extend far beyond the classroom.
