Third grade students at Trumble Park Elementary School capped off their unit on space with a festive family learning celebration, inviting loved ones into the classroom to share in the fun and reflect on everything students had discovered. The event brought together families, students, and staff for an evening full of hands-on activities and joyful learning.

During the celebration, students and their guests made constellations together, reviewed student-authored reports on their favorite planets, and got active with the classic parachute — a beloved staple of school celebrations that never fails to bring energy and laughter to any gathering. Each activity was thoughtfully tied to the unit's learning objectives, giving students the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge in engaging, accessible ways.

Culminating events like this one serve an important purpose beyond celebration: they give students a chance to synthesize and share what they've learned, reinforcing retention and building communication skills. Inviting families into that process creates a bridge between school and home, showing loved ones firsthand the depth of learning happening in the classroom. A special shout-out goes to the teachers and staff at Trumble Park Elementary for crafting such a memorable and meaningful way to mark the end of the space unit. Papillion La Vista Community Schools is grateful for the educators who go above and beyond to make learning an experience worth celebrating.
