Students Explore Post-Secondary Pathways at Annual College and Career Expos, 11/5/2025
Jackie Vote

Students at Papillion La Vista High School and Papillion La Vista South High School participated in their annual College and Career Expos, connecting with representatives from businesses, higher education institutions, and PLCS Academy programs to explore diverse pathways for their futures. The comprehensive events provided students with valuable opportunities to gather information, ask questions, and envision the possibilities available to them after high school graduation.

Current students enrolled in PLCS Academy programs served as ambassadors during the expos, sharing their experiences and encouraging fellow students to consider applying to the specialized career-focused programs. The PLCS Academies offer a range of options, including programs open to students in grades 9-12 as well as specialized academies designed specifically for juniors and seniors. These academies provide students with advanced career preparation through industry partnerships, hands-on learning experiences, and opportunities to earn college credit and industry certifications while still in high school.

The timing of the expos aligns strategically with the application period for PLCS Academy programs, which runs through Wednesday, November 12. Students interested in exploring these specialized pathways can learn more and submit applications at plcschools.org/FUTURE. The variety of academy options allows students to pursue interests in fields ranging from healthcare and engineering to business and education, providing clear career trajectories and competitive advantages as they transition to post-secondary education or workforce entry.

The success of these annual events reflects the strong partnerships between Papillion La Vista Community Schools and the business and higher education communities. The district extends appreciation to all PLCS Cooperation BEST partners whose ongoing support and participation help students make informed decisions about their futures and understand the wealth of opportunities available to them in the region and beyond.
