PLHS Math Students Present Real-World Research to Local Business Partners, 11/26/2025
Jackie Vote

Students in Integrated Math at Papillion La Vista High School transformed their classroom learning into professional presentations for local business leaders this week. Working in teams, students developed research objectives, designed and distributed peer surveys, and analyzed the resulting data to provide actionable insights to community partners including the Omaha Storm Chasers, Pinnacle Bank, Chick-fil-A, and American National Bank.

The project challenged students to apply statistical analysis and data interpretation skills to real-world business questions. After identifying research topics relevant to their community partners, students crafted survey instruments to gather information from their peers, then synthesized their findings into professional presentations. Business representatives engaged students with questions about methodology, data collection, and practical applications of their research conclusions.

This annual collaboration offers dual benefits: local businesses gain valuable insight into student perspectives and preferences, while students experience the full research cycle from question formation through data presentation. The authentic audience and real-world application help students understand how mathematical concepts translate into professional decision-making tools.

The partnership exemplifies the district's commitment to connecting classroom learning with career readiness. PLCS extends appreciation to PLC Schools Cooperation BEST for facilitating these connections between students and local business leaders, creating opportunities for experiential learning that extends beyond traditional classroom boundaries.
