PLCS Staff Dedicate Professional Development Day to Growth Across Multiple Roles, 2/17/2026

While students enjoyed a day away from school on Monday, February 17, Papillion La Vista Community Schools staff members across a wide range of roles took part in professional development opportunities designed to sharpen skills and deepen their ability to support students. From substitute teachers to paraprofessionals to food service employees, the day reflected a district-wide investment in the people who keep PLCS schools running every day.

Substitute teachers were welcomed with an appreciation breakfast before taking part in training sessions focused on their unique role within the district. Substitutes are an essential component of consistent student learning, stepping in when classroom teachers are unavailable and maintaining the instructional environment students depend on. Their participation in dedicated training underscores the district's recognition of their value and its commitment to their professional preparation.

Paraprofessionals gathered for the Human Resources department's Para Conference, a focused learning opportunity tailored to the responsibilities and challenges of their work. Paraprofessionals provide vital instructional and behavioral support to students across the district, and targeted professional development ensures they have the knowledge and tools to serve students effectively. Food service staff also engaged in their own specialized learning sessions relevant to their daily responsibilities.

Papillion La Vista Community Schools recognizes that excellence in education depends on the growth and preparedness of every member of the school community, not just those in the classroom. By investing in professional development across all staff roles, the district affirms that every employee plays a meaningful part in student success. #PLCSMixtape #WeArePLCS
