April marks the Month of the Military Child, and schools across Papillion La Vista Community Schools are rolling out celebrations to honor students from military-affiliated families. The district kicked off the month in memorable fashion at Bell Elementary, where special guests from Offutt Air Force Base arrived to greet students with cheers and high fives as the school day began.

The surprise welcome from Offutt Air Force Base personnel gave Bell Elementary students a spirited and personal start to a month dedicated to recognizing their unique experiences and contributions to the school community. Military-connected children often navigate challenges such as frequent moves and family deployments, and the Month of the Military Child provides an important opportunity to acknowledge their resilience and strength.

Papillion La Vista Community Schools has a longstanding relationship with the military community, in large part due to the district's proximity to Offutt Air Force Base. The district is proud to serve the families who sacrifice so much in service to the country, and celebrations like this one are a meaningful reminder that military children are seen, valued, and celebrated throughout the PLCS community. More events are planned at schools across the district throughout the month of April.
