Papillion La Vista South High School's recent production of the musical "Curtains" delighted audiences with its clever play-within-a-play structure and memorable performances. The show, which ran last weekend, featured a diverse cast of student performers bringing to life the comedic murder mystery set in the world of 1950s musical theater.

The production challenged students to master complex theatrical techniques, including maintaining dual characterizations as actors playing actors, executing intricate musical numbers, and managing rapid scene transitions. The varied nature of the show provided opportunities for ensemble members to showcase both comedic timing and dramatic range, while technical theater students demonstrated their skills in creating the layered staging required for a production that depicts both backstage chaos and on-stage performances.

Theater arts programs like those at Papillion La Vista South High School provide students with valuable experience in collaboration, creative problem-solving, and public presentation skills. The demanding rehearsal process helps develop discipline, confidence, and the ability to work as part of a coordinated team toward a common artistic goal. These productions also strengthen school community bonds as families and students come together to support the performing arts.

The success of "Curtains" reflects Papillion La Vista Community Schools' commitment to providing robust fine arts opportunities that allow students to explore their creative talents while building skills that extend far beyond the stage.
