Parkview Heights Elementary Panthers got a special visit from professional volleyball's Omaha Supernovas on May 22, when Coach McGown, libero Allison Holder, and team mascot Starla stopped by to spend time with fifth and sixth grade students. The visit gave young Panthers a rare opportunity to interact with professional athletes and coaches in their own school, bringing the excitement of professional sports directly into the learning environment.

During the visit, Coach McGown and Holder spoke with students about the values that drive success both on and off the court, including hard work, perseverance, and the importance of teamwork. Their message connected athletic excellence to the everyday experiences students navigate in school and in their communities, offering an authentic and relatable perspective from those who compete at the highest level.

Students also had the chance to learn and practice basic volleyball skills under the guidance of a professional player and coach — an experience that went beyond inspiration to give students tangible takeaways they can build on. With Starla the mascot on hand to add energy and fun, the visit created a memorable atmosphere that blended learning with celebration.

The Omaha Supernovas' visit to Parkview Heights is a reflection of the powerful connections that can form between professional sports organizations and local schools. PLCS values partnerships that bring positive role models into students' lives, reinforcing the message that dedication, collaboration, and a growth mindset are the foundation of achievement in any arena.
