Papillion La Vista Community Schools celebrated outstanding Naval Junior ROTC cadets during the program's September awards ceremony, recognizing students who demonstrated exceptional commitment to leadership, service, and personal growth. The monthly recognition follows a comprehensive uniform inspection and honors cadets who have excelled both within the NJROTC program and in community service activities.

The Naval Junior ROTC program serves students from both Papillion La Vista High School (Monarchs) and Papillion La Vista South High School (Titans) in grades 9-12, with classes housed at Papillion La Vista South High School. This unique partnership allows students from both high schools to participate in a rigorous four-year curriculum covering citizenship, leadership development, naval operations, and national security. The program fits seamlessly into students' regular academic schedules while offering numerous extracurricular opportunities for those seeking additional challenge and engagement.

Beyond the classroom, NJROTC cadets can participate in specialized activities including color guard presentations, marksmanship competitions, and physical fitness challenges. These co-curricular components help students develop discipline, teamwork, and practical skills while representing their schools and community at various events. The monthly awards system recognizes not only academic achievement within the program but also cadets' contributions to school culture and community service initiatives.

The recognition of these cadets reflects PLCS's commitment to providing diverse pathways for student growth and leadership development. Through programs like NJROTC, students gain valuable skills in responsibility, public service, and personal excellence that will benefit them long after graduation.
