PLCS Summer School students got a hands-on introduction to martial arts fundamentals on June 3 when Kassebaum's Martial Arts (KMA) visited to lead an interactive session centered on movement, discipline, and physical skill-building. The visit brought an energetic and educational dimension to the summer program through a community partnership facilitated by PLC Schools Cooperation BEST.

KMA instructors guided students through base exercises and foundational striking movements, introducing the core principles of balance, coordination, and controlled motion that underpin martial arts training. The session offered students an opportunity to engage their bodies and minds in a focused, structured activity that differs meaningfully from traditional classroom learning.

A highlight of the visit came when students had the chance to test their developing technique firsthand — practicing the speed and precision needed to rip a piece of paper with a chop. The challenge gave students an immediate, tangible way to measure their progress and experience the rewards of focused practice.
