Students at Hickory Hill Elementary are brewing up positivity throughout the Papillion community through a creative partnership with The Beanery coffee shop. As part of their monthly "Husky Huddles" program, elementary students collaborated across grade levels to design inspirational messages on coffee cup sleeves that are now being distributed to customers at the local coffee shop.

The project provided students with an authentic opportunity to practice kindness while developing their creative expression and collaboration skills. During Husky Huddles, students partnered with peers from different grade levels, creating meaningful cross-age connections while crafting uplifting messages for community members. The intergenerational buddy system allowed younger students to learn from older peers while working together toward a common goal of spreading positivity.

The partnership with The Beanery represents the type of community engagement that strengthens connections between PLCS schools and local businesses. By giving students a platform to share their positive messages with coffee shop customers, the project extends the reach of the school's character education efforts into the broader Papillion community. The coffee sleeves serve as small but meaningful reminders that kindness can be found in everyday moments.

As the holiday season approaches, the Hickory Hill Huskies hope their messages of kindness and hope brighten the days of community members enjoying their morning coffee. The project demonstrates how schools and local businesses can work together to create opportunities for students to make a positive impact beyond the classroom walls.
