Welcome to our Board Meeting Bulletin series, where we highlight key takeaways from each board meeting to keep our community informed and engaged with the latest developments in our school district.

Superintendent's Year-End Goals Update: Dr. Rikli presented his year-end progress report on the five goals that guided his work during the 2025-26 school year. The goals covered strategic planning, communication and community engagement, curriculum and technology, staff recruitment and retention, and implementation of the 2023 bond projects. Highlights included the completion of the district's new strategic plan framework, a successful two-year teacher contract agreement, and strong progress across bond construction projects, most notably the near-completion of Lincoln View Elementary ahead of schedule. The board will revisit goals for the coming school year at its annual retreat, tentatively planned for September.

Middle School Busing Survey Results: The district shared results from a recent survey sent to families of middle school students who would be eligible under an expanded pay-to-ride transportation program. Of the 734 eligible families surveyed, 75 percent responded, and roughly two-thirds of those indicated interest in a paid busing option. The presentation included cost modeling across several price ranges and outlined the financial tradeoffs involved in launching such a program. The board discussed the data at length and agreed that more conversation is needed before a direction is set. Transportation options and cost questions are expected to be a topic at the upcoming board retreat.

School Generator Upgrades: Brett Richards presented plans to upgrade generator infrastructure at six elementary schools: Anderson Grove, Golden Hills, G. Stanley Hall, La Vista West, Tara Heights, and Hickory Hill. The upgrades would add a second automatic transfer switch at each location, ensuring that phones, security systems, and network equipment remain operational during a power outage. The project is part of the 2023 bond initiative. A bid from Down's Electric is expected to come before the board for formal approval at the June 22 meeting.
