Welcome to our Board Meeting Bulletin series, where we highlight key takeaways from each board meeting to keep our community informed and engaged with the latest developments in our school district.

Positive Behavior Supports in Action: Principals from the BRAPP Array, Bell, Rumsey Station, Ashbury, Patriot, Portal, and Prairie Queen, presented the district's Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) system, showcasing how elementary buildings support student behavior and success across multiple tiers. At the foundation, all students receive instruction in social-emotional skills through the Everyday Speech curriculum, covering areas like self-awareness, responsible decision-making, and relationship skills. Buildings reinforce positive behavior through systems like descriptive feedback, recognition programs, and strong common-area expectations taught throughout the school year.

Staff Device Update: The board received an update on the staff MacBook Air refresh approved in February. After Apple notified the district that the originally quoted 13-inch M4 MacBook Airs were no longer available, Apple offered 15-inch M4 MacBook Airs with double the storage at the same total purchase price. The district accepted the upgrade, and the board was briefed on the change. No additional cost was incurred.

Administrative Salary Proposal: Human Resources presented a proposed salary package for certified administrators and classified directors for 2026-27, recommending an average total package increase of 3.25%. The proposal includes increasing the base salary from $74,290 to $76,815 and allowing for continued vertical and horizontal movement on the salary schedule. The same 3.25% package increase was recommended for assistant superintendents. The proposal was informed by the previously approved teacher negotiated agreement, which included a 3.5% total package increase for the current year.

Superintendent Salary Proposal: The board also reviewed a proposed total package increase of 3.02% for Superintendent Dr. Rikli's 2026-27 contract. The recommendation considered comparable superintendent compensation across the state's 15 largest districts, where Dr. Rikli's total compensation currently ranks between 8th and 11th. Board members noted the importance of keeping the position competitively compensated for long-term recruitment purposes, regardless of the current superintendent. Both salary proposals were discussion items, with formal action expected at a future meeting.
