Board Meeting Bulletin, 2/23/2026
Christopher Villarre

Welcome to our Board Meeting Bulletin series, where we highlight key takeaways from each board meeting to keep our community informed and engaged with the latest developments in our school district.

Fundraising Policy Update: The board approved an update to Policy 1410, raising the special project fundraising limit from $50,000 to $65,000. This change gives schools and groups greater flexibility when organizing larger fundraising initiatives.

Staff Technology Refresh: The board approved a purchase agreement with Apple Computer, Inc. to replace the district's existing staff fleet of MacBook Airs. The total purchase amount of $1,341,600 will be structured over four years, with payments aligned to the district's established technology replacement cycle. The purchase includes AppleCare protection and will also allow the district to transition to a more cost-effective device management platform.

District Boundary Update: The board approved a property transfer agreement with Springfield Platteview Community Schools, adding approximately 75 acres in the Shadow Creek North subdivision, located near Schram Road and 84th Street, to Papillion La Vista Community Schools. The transfer follows an existing interlocal agreement between the two districts and reflects the continued growth of our community.

Foundation Field Track Replacement: The district presented plans to replace the Foundation Field track, which is over 22 years old and approaching the end of its expected lifespan. The project will include a full replacement of both the surface and subsurface, along with design improvements informed by feedback from track coaches and athletic directors at both high schools. Public bids are currently being collected, with a contract expected to be brought to the board for action at the March 9 meeting. Construction is planned to run from late May through early August, with the goal of having the track ready before the start of football and activity season.

Strategic Plan Update: The district shared the draft goals and objectives for its next five-year strategic plan, developed with input from students, parents, staff, business leaders, and community members. Six goals were presented, focused on student mental health and well-being, academic rigor and student ownership of learning, expanded access to advanced and career-connected opportunities, a consistent district-wide system for academic planning from grades 6 through 12, meaningful engagement with families and the broader community, and strategic recruitment and retention of staff. The board will be asked to formally approve the goals and objectives at a future meeting, after which implementation teams will develop specific action steps and timelines.
