Board Meeting Bulletin, 10/13/2025
Christopher Villarre

Welcome to our Board Meeting Bulletin series, where we highlight key takeaways from each board meeting to keep our community informed and engaged with the latest developments in our school district.

Tax Levy Approved for 2025-26: The Board approved the property tax levy for the 2025-26 school year at $1.096547 per $100 of assessed value, representing a decrease from the previous year. The total tax request of $111,539,393 will support general operations, bond obligations, and building fund needs while maintaining fiscal responsibility to taxpayers.

District Mission Statement Updated: Following strategic planning discussions, the Board approved minor updates to the district mission statement. The revised language emphasizes that educators are "committed" rather than "passionate" and partnerships are "meaningful" rather than "bold," better reflecting the district's current values and direction.

Option Enrollment Resolution Set: The Board approved the annual option enrollment resolution, declaring Prairie Queen Elementary, Lincoln View Elementary, and Ashbury Elementary closed to option enrollment for the 2026-27 school year due to capacity constraints. This proactive measure ensures appropriate class sizes and resources for current district students as enrollment continues to grow.

Custodial Agreement Ratified: A two-year agreement with custodial, warehouse, and driver employees was approved, providing wage increases of 3.94% in year one and 3.8% in year two. The agreement includes enhanced bereavement leave provisions and maintains current health insurance options, reflecting the district's commitment to supporting all staff members.

Student Enrollment Update: As of October 10, the district serves 12,126 students in grades PreK-12, representing an increase of 57 students from the previous year. Growth was recorded at all levels: elementary (+23), middle school (+27), and high school (+28). The district successfully filled all classroom teaching positions and continues recruitment for specialized support roles.
