Titan Senior Receives Inaugural Pensick-Pelini Center of Excellence Award, 12/12/24
Christopher Villarre

Papillion La Vista South High School senior Aiden Whitted has been named the first recipient of the Pensick-Pelini Center of Excellence Award, presented by the Mark Vincent Pelini Foundation.

The award recognizes outstanding Class A football centers who demonstrate excellence in character, academics, leadership, and athletic performance. It was established in memory of Cole Pensick and Mark Pelini, former University of Nebraska centers who passed away at young ages.

Whitted received the honor during an intimate ceremony attended by members of the Pensick and Pelini families, his own family, and his Titan football teammates and coaches.

The award reflects not only Whitted's achievements on the field but also his dedication to academic excellence and leadership within the school community. As a center for the Titans' football team, he has exemplified the values of character and commitment that the award seeks to recognize.

Both Pensick and Pelini left lasting legacies at the University of Nebraska, where they served as centers for the Huskers football program. This award ensures their memory lives on by celebrating young athletes who embody their spirit of excellence both on and off the field.
