Students at Tara Heights Elementary were treated to a special literary experience last week when New York Times bestselling children's author Karma Wilson visited the school. The acclaimed writer shared her newest book, "Bear Feels Sad," with excited students during interactive reading sessions.

Wilson also engaged students with a lively reading of another of her popular works, incorporating movement activities to help children "get the wiggles out" while enjoying the story. A highlight of her presentation included bringing out a frog puppet to help recite her book "A Frog in the Bog," delighting the young audience with this theatrical element.

Throughout her visit, Wilson shared insights about the writing process and the inspiration behind her beloved characters, particularly her famous "Bear" series. Students had opportunities to ask questions about being an author and creating books, gaining valuable perspective on literacy and creative storytelling.

Author visits like Wilson's play an important role in fostering a love of reading among students by creating personal connections between children and the creators of literature they enjoy. This special event at Tara Heights Elementary demonstrates the school's commitment to enriching literary experiences that inspire young readers and potential future authors
