Local Author Leads Monthly Writing Workshops at Carriage Hill Elementary, 11/26/2024
Christopher Villarre

Fourth grade students at Carriage Hill Elementary are enhancing their creative writing skills through monthly workshops led by local author Jeff Kurrus. During these sessions, students explore both fiction and nonfiction writing through guided prompts while maintaining creative freedom in their work.

The workshops, which began this school year, provide students with structured writing time and incorporate specific writing techniques. Kurrus offers constructive feedback to students who volunteer to share their work aloud with the class.

These interactive sessions are designed to help students develop their writing skills while fostering confidence in public speaking. Students have responded enthusiastically to the opportunity to learn new writing techniques and share their work with peers.

The writing workshop program represents one of several initiatives at Carriage Hill Elementary aimed at strengthening students' literacy and creative expression skills through real-world connections with local professionals.
