The La Vista Middle School show choir and jazz band recently completed a comprehensive district tour, performing at all LVMS feeder elementary schools. The talented Monarchs, pictured performing at Tara Heights Elementary, delivered engaging performances throughout a busy day of appearances, showcasing their musical and performance skills to enthusiastic young audiences.
Under the direction of Mr. Riva and Ms. Fisher, the middle school musicians and vocalists prepared a diverse program of music designed to appeal to elementary students while demonstrating the range of talents developed in LVMS performing arts programs. The show choir performed choreographed numbers featuring contemporary music, while the jazz band showcased instrumental skills with selections highlighting various soloists and ensemble work.
The tour required significant logistical planning, with performances scheduled throughout the day at multiple locations. Students needed to quickly set up, perform, and then move to the next venue, gaining valuable experience in the practical aspects of performing arts production along with the performance itself.
For the elementary students in attendance, the performances provided an exciting glimpse into opportunities that await them in middle school. Many expressed interest in joining similar groups when they reach LVMS, creating a pipeline of enthusiasm for the district's performing arts programs.
Beyond entertainment value, the tour served important educational purposes. Elementary students observed the results of dedicated practice and teamwork, while LVMS performers developed confidence and adaptability through multiple performances in different venues.
The whirlwind day of performances demonstrated the strong connections between schools within the Papillion La Vista Community School District and highlighted the district's commitment to comprehensive arts education at all grade levels.
