The Papillion La Vista Community Schools (PLCS) Health Systems Academy recently welcomed representatives from Google and the PLCS Foundation to showcase its newest educational technology: an Anatomage virtual dissection table. The advanced equipment, funded through a Google grant, provides students with an innovative way to study human anatomy and physiology.
The Anatomage table allows students to interact with detailed scans of real human bodies that were donated to science. This technology enables in-depth study of individual body systems and their integration, offering students access to real patient cases including geriatric and pregnancy-specific scenarios. Students can also practice simulated medical procedures using the equipment.
Both the Biomedical and Patient Care pathways within the Academy will utilize the table as part of their curriculum. During their visit, Google representatives explored the table's capabilities and learned about the Academy's educational programs and student opportunities.
The acquisition of this advanced teaching tool represents a significant enhancement to the Academy's hands-on learning resources, with students already eager to begin working with the new technology.
