Papillion La Vista Community Schools wants to inform our community about a recent situation regarding public meeting notices.

PLCS submitted two public notices to the Sarpy County Times on January 22, 2025, for publication in their February 5 edition. Due to a company-wide outage at Lee Enterprises, the notices were not published in the newspaper as scheduled. However, both notices were posted and publicly available on the district website prior to the meetings.

The notices pertained to the Board of Education Regular Meeting and the American Civics Curriculum Hearing. Both meetings were held as scheduled on Monday, February 10, 2025, at the Papillion La Vista Community Schools Administration Office. The district fulfilled its commitment to public transparency by ensuring all meeting information was accessible through our website.

In accordance with Nebraska State Statute 84-1411, public bodies must give reasonable advance publicized notice of meetings. While the district traditionally publishes notices in the Sarpy County Times, state law also recognizes website posting as an acceptable method of meeting notification. The district maintains an up-to-date archive of all meeting notices, agendas, and minutes on our website to ensure continuous public access to this important information.
