Board Meeting Bulletin: August 26, 2024
Tyler Cronin
Welcome to our Board Meeting Bulletin series, where we highlight key takeaways from each board meeting to keep our community informed and engaged with the latest developments in our school district.

New Elementary School Approved: The board approved construction of a new elementary school at Granite Creek with a budget of $21,363,175. Construction is set to begin in October and be completed by June 2026.

Papillion Middle School Renovations: Plans were presented for renovations including updates to the main entry, track, gym, science classrooms, and locker rooms to improve accessibility and modernize facilities.

Budget Update: The district faces a significant decrease in state aid, from $28.6 million to $21.6 million. Despite this challenge, there's an anticipated 1 cent decrease in the overall tax levy. The district is working to balance maintaining educational quality with managing budget constraints.

Enrollment Update: The district's total Pre-K to 12 enrollment currently stands at 12,097 students. This represents an overall increase from the previous year, with growth particularly noted in the elementary, middle, and high school levels. As is typical for early childhood programs, Pre-K enrollment is expected to continue growing throughout the school year.
