District Accreditation
After an extensive review process, Papillion La Vista Community Schools received renewed District Accreditation from the Nebraska Department of Education (NDE) in January 2025. By receiving District Accreditation, parents in PLCS can be assured that the district is focused on raising student achievement, providing a safe and enriching learning environment, and maintaining an efficient and effective operation.
In January 2025, the Nebraska Frameworks external review team, comprised of state education experts spent four days analyzing PLCS. They interviewed a variety of employees, parents, business partners, school board members, and community patrons. The review team visited numerous schools, requested evidence to verify the status of educational standards, and observed many classrooms throughout the district. At the conclusion of their review, they affirmed the district's compliance with Rule 10 and provided meaningful feedback that will drive future improvement goals.
The review team particularly commended PLCS for our strong sense of community, high-quality high school academies that serve as models for the state, focus on mental health supports, robust curriculum development systems, and initiatives to develop staff from within the district. The district motto, "Be Known for Greatness," was evident throughout the review process in the dedication of district personnel and community members to provide high-quality education and opportunities for all students.
School districts earn District Accreditation by meeting the Nebraska Department of Education standards, engaging in continuous improvement, and demonstrating quality assurance through internal and external review. The accreditation process focuses on student achievement and confirms that accredited school districts have all the characteristics in place that support student achievement.
As we move forward, PLCS will continue to use the feedback from this review to enhance our educational programs and ensure that every student has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
