Sarpy County TIPS Incident Reporting
This is not an emergency reporting system. If this is an urgent matter, please immediately dial 911.
Sarpy County is committed to providing a safe, healthy and secure environment for all community stakeholders. This web-based incident reporting and incident management platform, called TIPS, is helping Sarpy County empower community members, especially our youth, to be heard and to anonymously report warning signs and trouble. Information about concerning behaviors, threats to harm and suicidal thoughts, as well as information about drugs, weapons, or other factors which may be harmful to our community, especially our schools, should be reported. The goal of TIPS is prevention and to help identify red flags before an incident occurs or escalates.
This website is not intended to replace direct contact with school administration or law enforcement, but instead to help ensure that concerns are heard and information is received by the proper personnel who can provide an accurate and thorough follow-up. Please feel free to contact any school or the district administrative office with issues or concerns you may have. Together, we can help stop tragedies and crises before they happen!

School Resource Officers (SROs)
Our district prioritizes the safety and security of all students, staff, and community members. To help ensure a safe and orderly school environment, we collaborate with local law enforcement agencies to employ School Resource Officers (SROs) in our schools.
These officers are authorized to work within our buildings, serving as a valuable resource for maintaining safety and fostering positive relationships between law enforcement and our school community. SROs contribute to our educational mission by helping to create a secure learning environment for all.
Standard Response Protocol
Inclement Weather Information
The decision to close school due to inclement weather will be made by the Central Office as early as possible. The superintendent is responsible for making the final decision.
In addition to the possibility of canceling school, the superintendent may chose to invoke a 2 hour late start as well. Please see the FAQs regarding our late start procedures below.
Late Start Information
If weather conditions are appropriate, a late start may be used to save educational time while still keeping students and staff safe.
If used, a late start will move the school start time to 10:05 a.m. for elementary students and 10:00 a.m. for middle school and high school students.
Below are some of the questions and answers for the late start procedure.
What time does school start?
School will start at 10:05 a.m. for elementary students and 10:00 a.m. for middle school and high school students.
What time can I drop my ELEMENTARY kids off at school?
The doors will be open by 9:50 for students to arrive on a late start day.
What time do Middle Schools and High Schools open?
The doors will be unlocked 2 hours later than the normal opening time. (For example, if the doors usually are unlocked at 7:30, then the doors will be unlocked at 9:30). This varies by individual school building.
What happens with preschool students?
FULL day preschool programs will start 2 hours later like the rest of the schools. For HALF day programs, there will be no morning preschool and afternoon sessions will run as normal.
When will lunch be served?
Lunch will be served at the normal time at each school.
Will buses run on late start days?
Yes. All transportation will run just two hours later than the normal time.
If it’s a Wednesday is the late start even later?
No. If called, a late start day will begin at 10:00 for middle school and high school and 10:05 for elementary, even if it is a Wednesday.
Will Kids Club be open?
On late start days, all Kids Club sites will be closed for the morning session, but will be open after school.
What if I don’t want my child to go to school?
The final decision is ALWAYS the parent’s decision. Parents need to make decisions based on what is in the best interest and safety of their families.
Snow and Ice Control Plan Summary
Each year, our Director of Buildings and Grounds issues a Snow and Ice Control Plan for the district. With miles of sidewalks across the district, and several acres of parking lots and playgrounds to clear off snow, our Buildings & Grounds Department, which includes maintenance staff and custodial staff, faces a significant challenge during these events.
Our highest priority is the safety of our students, and our secondary concern is allowing snow removal crews unobstructed access to district properties, so we can reopen our schools for regular operations and activities. Our annual Snow and Ice Control Plan ensures a proactive response to winter challenges across our district. Key components include:
Communication Strategy
A communication plan is in place to keep the school community informed during snow events. The plan includes guidance for providing updates on closures, delays, or changes in operations.
Roles and Responsibilities
Our plan underscores the integral roles of buildings and grounds staff and custodial teams in executing snow and ice control operations. Clear delineation of responsibilities ensures a coordinated and effective response.
Safety First
At the forefront of our priorities is the safety of our students and staff. The plan outlines specific safety measures and protocols implemented to safeguard everyone during winter events. This includes proper winter weather gear, frostbite information, skip and fall prevention, and snow removal safety tips.
Equipment and Preparedness
Each building is equipped with at least one snow blower, which is serviced annually in October. Additionally, our crew has access to snow shovels, ice melt, spreaders, and snow plows for larger areas.
