    Description:  Battle of the Books is a District initiative to encourage students to read books from different genres. A team, of four students, will read five novels and battle different teams in their building, on their knowledge of the books. Then the top two teams in each building will battle for the District championship. Battle of the Books meets on Wednesdays.

    Description:  Coding club is something brand new! Patriot’s coding club is looking for students interested in learning about the basics of coding and computer science. We will be exploring how to solve problems using amazing computer language! This will include familiar programs such as: code.org, Scratch, Osmo, and our Patriot codable robots. Coding club will be very different from our technology club we have had in the past. Focusing on coding alone will give us more time to explore the four main pillars of computer science! If you have ever thought about becoming a computer programmer, love working on challenging problems, or are interested in creating using technology, this club is for you!

    Description:  Newspaper Club is an editorial club for 4th- 6th grade students who have an interest in writing editorial stories about various activities that are occurring at Patriot. Students will interview staff and other students about upcoming events, student activities and fun learning opportunities.  They will also spend time learning about photography and newspaper layout/design.  Newspaper Club meets on Wednesdays.

    Description:  Big Band is the full group rehearsal of concert band. Students learn their instruments during the day in small group lessons, then rehearse as a large ensemble in Big Band. Skills taught include tuning, blend, balance, listening, and teamwork along with a multitude of musical skills  Big Band will meet on Tuesdays.

    Description:  Patriot Pride Student Advisory is a small group of 5th and 6th grade students that model the school-wide expectations both inside and outside of the classroom.  Students will work to promote a positive school environment.

    Description:  POSHE stands for Patriot Orff Schulwerk Honor Ensemble. Composer, Carl Orff developed an approach to music that uses speaking, singing, dancing and playing instruments.  Schulwerk is German for “school work”. We will incorporate musical concepts learned through our work at school. Honor is the privilege of being selected to perform in POSHE. Ensemble is the group of 4th- 6th grades (consisting of 30 students) making music and performing together.  POSHE meets on Thursdays.

    Description:  Pride Choir focuses on proper singing technique, part singing, listening to others to help blend, teamwork and reading music. Students experience what it is like to be in a choir setting before heading to the middle school.  Pride Choir meets on Thursdays.

    Description:  Members develop their leadership and communication skills while volunteering and planning events for students and the community.  Students share ideas, interests, and concerns with teachers. They will also help raise funds for school-wide activities, social events, community projects, and helping people in need in our community. Pride Council meets on Wednesdays, twice a month.

    Description: Patriot is excited to offer a military club for students who are military dependents or whose families are associated with the Department of Defense.
