Papillion-La Vista Student Teacher Framework

  • The purpose of Papillion La Vista Community Schools student teacher program is designed to provide a foundation for Student Teachers and Cooperating Teachers to assist Student Teachers in becoming accomplished and thoughtful practitioners in a collaborative learning environment.
     
    The program is organized for four components: Planning and Preparation, Classroom Environment, Instruction and Professional Responsibilities. 
     
    Planning and Preparation:
    Papillion La Vista Community Schools Student Teachers will accomplish the following through guidance from their Cooperating Teachers:
    • Demonstrate Knowledge of Content and Pedagogy
    • Understand Knowledge of Their Students
    • Set Instructional Goals/Outcomes
    • Demonstrate Knowledge of Instructional Resources Available
    • Design and Implement Coherent Instruction
    • Design and Implement Student Assessments
     
    Classroom Environment:
    Papillion La Vista Community Schools Student Teachers will accomplish the following through guidance from their Cooperating Teachers:
    • Create an Environment of Respect and Rapport
    • Establish a Culture of Learning
    • Manage Classroom Procedures
    • Manage Student Behavior
    • Organize the Physical Space of the Classroom
    Instruction:
    Papillion La Vista Community Schools Student Teachers will accomplish the following through guidance from their Cooperating Teachers:
    • Communicate with Students
    • Use Questioning and Instruction Techniques
    • Engage Students in Learning
    • Use Assessment in Instruction
    • Demonstrate Flexibility and Responsiveness 
     
    Professional Responsibilities:
    Papillion La Vista Community Schools Teachers will accomplish the following through guidance from their Cooperating Teachers:
    • Reflect on Teaching Practices
    • Maintain Accurate Records
    • Communicate with Students and Their Families
    • Participate in Professional Learning Communities/Professional Learning Teams
    • Grow and Develop Professionally
    • Show Professionalism
