STEAM Club is a new club being offered this year. During STEAM club 4th and 5th grade students will utilize the CAT Lab for fun Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Math activities. Permission slips will be sent home on Monday, the 16th and are due by September 20th. The club will meet on Wednesdays from 3:05-4:00 from October-December.
Green Team is for 3rd and 4th graders who want to help Walnut Creek be green! We also learn how to recycle, reduce and reuse. We meet once per month on Wednesdays after school. Green Team members empty the classroom recycle bins twice per week. Interested students need to submit a one paragraph essay to Mrs. Carey about why they want to be on Green Team. Essays due Friday September 20.K-Kids Club is a student-led community service club for 4th-6th graders that teaches members the value of helping others through participation in service projects and club activities. This is an organized club, so regular attendance and good behavior is required to participate. K-Kids will be held one to two times a month on Thursdays after school from 3:05-4:05 from October until early April. We hope to have you join us for an exciting year of serving others.
Student Council is a student leadership group for 4th-6th grade students. Members serve as student ambassadors at Walnut Creek, address school-wide concerns, and plan and organize student events and activities. Student Council will meet monthly beginning in October.
Cool Cats is a small group of sixth-grade students who exhibit exceptional leadership skills and demonstrate the Wildcat Way both inside and outside of the classroom. These students plan and lead activities during our school-wide assemblies and serve as our student advisory panel for PBIS (Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports). Applications and teacher recommendations are due Sept. 6th. Cool Cats will run thru May.
Girls On The Run is a 10 week program that will help girls build confidence, character and healthy lifestyle. We’ll meet after school on Tuesdays & Thursdays starting August 27. Learn more at www.gotrnebraska.org.
