Jerry Kalina

Head Principal

Hello Monarch Nation!  My name is Jerry Kalina and I am the head principal at Papillion-La Vista High School.  I am currently in my 10th year as principal of Monarch High.  Before becoming principal, I was an assistant principal for 12 years.  I began my career at La Vista Junior High as a special education teacher.  I enjoy life as a principal and look forward to working with our students each and every day.  I am a proud graduate of Omaha Benson High School, class of 1986. I attended college at the University of Nebraska – Omaha and have a masters degree in secondary education from UNO.  I have an educational specialist degree from Wayne State College.  Amy and I have been married for 25 years and are the proud parents of Nicole and Jack.  This is a great high school and I am proud of the work we do each and every day in meeting the needs of our students.  Go Monarchs!

John Hubert

Assistant Principal / 11th Grade Discipline

I graduated from Morningside College with a B.S. in Biology Education and taught science for 12 years - first at Bishop Heelan Catholic High School in Sioux City, IA and then here at Papillion-La Vista High.  I earned my M.S. in Educational Administration from UNO and my Educational Specialist degree from Wayne State.  I have been the 11th grade principal at PLHS for 12 years.  In addition to discipline, I am in charge of educational technology, coordinate the professional development program and our Professional Learning Teams.  Our students and staff make this a very special place that I am proud to say is the best high school in the state.  Go Monarchs!

Jeff Govier

Assistant Principal / 12th Grade Discipline

I am a Peru State College graduate.  While at Peru I played football and earned a B.S in Education.  I began my teaching career at Omaha Burke High School.  I taught the Zoo Academy and Biology as a Bulldog.  I then moved to Monarch Nation in 2002.  At PLHS I have taught Biology, Chemistry, and Physical Science.  In addition to teaching I continued my education by earning a M.S. in Curriculum and Instruction and a M.S. in Educational Leadership, both from Doane College.  This is a great school and I am a proud member of a strong team that works to uphold the Tradition of Excellence at our school. Dr. Angie O'Hanlon

Assistant Principal / 9th Grade Discipline

I graduated from The University of Nebraska at Lincoln with a B.S. in Secondary Education, emphasis in math.  I taught math for 5 years at Gross Catholic High School before coming to PLHS and taught 9 years here before becoming an administrator.  I earned my M.S. and Ed.D in Educational Administration from UNO.  I am currently the senior administrator and coordinate the master schedule, district assessments and grading.  I thoroughly enjoy watching our Monarchs succeed both in and out of the classroom. Jason Ryan

Activities / Athletics Director

I graduated from Doane College in Crete, Nebraska with a degree in Special Education in 1997.  After graduating from Doane, I taught Special Education at PLHS from 1997-2001 and also served as an assistant basketball and baseball coach.  In 2001, I went to Bellevue East High School where I spent ten years as Dean of Students and head boys’ basketball coach.  In 2011, I returned to PLHS where I taught in the Business department and was head boys basketball coach.  I am currently in my 7th year as Activities / Athletic Director. Josh Siske

Assistant Activities Director / 10th Grade Discipline

I am a Doane College graduate.  I have taught Physical Education and Special Education for 11 years, first at Crete Middle School in Crete Nebraska and then here in the PLCS district.  I was the girls basketball Coach for the past 6 years and the boys tennis coach for the last two years. I am finishing my Certification in Educational Administration at Wayne State College.  This is my first year serving as the Dean of Students and Assistant Activities Director.  Go Monarchs!
