All PLCS Computers Need to be Processed by Technology
Due to the computer Malware issues, all Surface computers K-6 will need to be exchanged for another one. All Mac computers will need to have updates applied by technology. Because you missed the designated day for your school, please come to the PLCS District Technology Training Center (located behind the central office) on one of the makeup days to complete these necessary updates.
Make up days are scheduled for:
- Wednesday, July 24 7:30-4:30
- Thursday, August 1 7:30-4:30
- Friday, August 2 7:30-4:30
What to bring?- Your PLCS access name badge.
- Your current PLCS computer.
How long will it take?
These updates to your computer will take 20-60 minutes depending on how much prep work you have done in advance.
What do I need to do before coming?
To speed up the process, it would be helpful if prior to coming you:- Change your computer password AGAIN using this link.
- Be sure all of your computer files are in OneDrive. If you have files on your desktop they will need to be moved to OneDrive. For assistance in moving files click here.
- If you want to keep the websites you have bookmarked, you need to back up your book marks. For assistance in backing up your bookmarks watch this video.
Note: Assistance with completing any of the above tasks will be available when you come to the PLCS technology training center on July 18. However, if you have any or all of these items completed in advance the process will go much quicker.
What if I cannot come during my designated time?
Make up days are scheduled for:- Wednesday, July 24 7:30-4:30
- Thursday, August 1 7:30-4:30
- Friday, August 2 7:30-4:30
Note: If you cannot come during your designated time, you can come on any of the above make up days. If none of these times work, support will be available on August 8, your first day back.
Why is this important?
Until your computer is exchanged or updated by the technology department you may have difficulties accessing important programs and systems necessary for you to complete your job. All computers need to be moved to the virus free environment where we know you can access email, print services and other important systems necessary. In an effort to maintain a smooth start to the new year, we are making this process available to you prior to your first day on the job.
