Prairie Queen Elementary School has community groups within our school called Mustang Squads. Each squad consists of students from various grades and classes.
This year, each squad was asked to contribute to our community outside the walls of our school and homes. Students are learning how to give back and how to build a community together.
In September, students conducted an activity to get to know each other. In October, students learned about the meaning of community. In November, students brainstormed ways to get involved and who makes a community great. In January, students learned about their specalized areas.
In February, students will come up with a plan for how their groups can contribute to the community. Then this spring, through April 10, students will work on completing a service-learning project. Finally, on May 10, students will celebrate their success in their Mustang Squads.
