Evaluation Process

Papillion La Vista Community Schools offers free developmental screenings and evaluations for children whose parents have concerns about their development. These evaluations can take place at home or at the Early Childhood Center, with both parents encouraged to participate.

The evaluation team, which may include various specialists, will assess your child through play, formal tasks, and observations. They aim to create a comprehensive picture of your child's development. You can stop the evaluation at any time if you have concerns.

After the evaluation, the team will meet with you to review the results and determine if your child qualifies for special education services. If not, they may provide strategies to support your child's development at home.

If your child does qualify, the team will work with you to create an individualized plan. This plan will outline goals and specify the amount of time needed with service providers.
