  • Notes from the Nurse

FLU SEASON is here! Please protect others, your children and yourself with a flu shot!

If you can’t afford a flu shot (under insured or uninsured) Midlands Hospital has the Vaccines for Children Program that will give the shot for free.

Students should stay home when ill and not return to school until they are 24hrs fever free

Stay away from people who have been ill.

No Tylenol/ibuprofen to mask the fever and send child to school; allowing the individual to return prior to being 24hrs fever free still allows the illness to be spread.

Keep hands away from mouth, nose and eyes.

Wash hands often!  Especially after coughing & blowing nose.  Discard a tissues after using (don’t put back in your pocket) into waste basket and wash hands again.

Any questions please contact your school nurse Beth Curry RN at bcurry@paplv.org

If your student is not feeling well and text you, please tell them to let their teacher know and they will be sent to the Health Office.  Your student will be assessed and then you will be contacted.  We appreciate your cooperation.

  • Attendance Reminders

If your student will not be at school, a parent or guardian needs to contact the school @ 402-898-0424 to report the absence.  You may also e-mail trohn@paplv.org with your absences.  Please notify the school prior to 8:30am.  A message may be left if the line is busy or after regular school hours. A student will be considered “unexcused” if the absence is not confirmed.

Parents should try to avoid taking students out of school for appointments if possible.  If it is necessary, it is helpful if you call ahead or have your student bring a note to the front office when they arrive at school.  If you wish to have the absence waived, your child may bring a signed note from the doctor when they return to school.
