Public Relations Internships

  • What is an internship?  High school student working on her homework in the classroom.
    Internships give students the opportunity to experience first hand what a potential career may be like. PLCS partners with a local business and students are immersed in the business setting.

    Where can students currently intern?
    PLCS Communications Department Internship
    Learn the behind the scenes operation of the District Communications Department.  Students will gain experience writing messages, working with social media, designing publications, planning special events and more. This internship is perfect for students with a strong interest in communications and public relations and desire to learn more about the various careers available in the communications and public relations industry.

    Sarpy Chamber of Commerce
    Students will gain experiences in the field of public relations, community involvement and marketing. Students will learn about newsletter content, updating information, organizing and coordinating events, taking reservations for activities and much more.

    Eligibility Requirements:

    • Must complete an application and be selected to participate.
    • Must be a senior in the fall.
    • Have an interest in pursuing a career in journalism, business, marketing, communications or public relations.
    • Must have a good attendance record.

      Shadow Lake Town Center, 7775 Olson Drive, Suite 207, Papillion

    Time: Internship students will work 10 hours per week with flexible hours.
    Transportation: Students must provide their own transportation.
    Credits: One high school elective credit per semester
    Pay: These are non-paid internships
    Grades: Seniors only

    How to Apply
    To apply for a PLCS academy program, students must complete an online application.  Applications for the 2019-2020 school year will be available starting in the afternoon on November 7 and will close at midnight on November 14.
