PLCS ANNOUNCESNO SCHOOL NOVEMBER 23 & 24
Due to the heightened concern with COVID a decision was made to cancel school November 23 & 24. This includes remote learners as well. Teachers will report. With an increase in the number of COVID cases and the amount of students that are absent, these two days will provide time to work with students to help them catch up. In addition, staff will benefit from additional planning and preparation time.
NJHS TOY DRIVE THIS WEEK!NJHS members will be collecting new toys starting November 18th - November 20th. All toys will be donated to the Sarpy County Holiday Assistance Program, so your donation helps families in our own community. The 8th grade drop off will be in the pits in the mornings, and the 7th grade drop off will be in the cafeteria. The 7th and the 8th grade advisory groups that donate the most to this cause will earn individually wrapped cookies.
"MONARCH GIVING" WAS HUGE SUCCESS!Our LVMS 'week of giving' was amazing! Tons of coats, hats, and gloves were donated by students, 1,000s of canned foods were donated, and $800 in loose change was donated for our clubs. Thank you so much for everyone's donation. We could not have had such a successful event without each and every one of you. Our community, students, and staff will definitely benefit from so much kindness.
Week of November 16-20: Week of Receiving
·Students in our community have already started receiving coats for the winter
o Students who donated a coat will get a chance to win a raffle prize. Each day, we will have 2 drawings for prizes.
· Families in our community will get food they are needing
o The winning Teams were Camelot with 693 donations and Cyclones with 582 donations. Both teams will get a movie during class time sometime this week.
· And… Since we collected enough loose change, our staff will get to wear jeans all week.
Way to go Monarchs!
Attendance- Please Call! Please remember to call or email us at LVMS if your child will not be at school, will be coming late, or will need to leave early. A doctor's note will be documented in attendance, but we still need to hear from a parent.
We are limiting our visitors in the building so we ask that you wait in your vehicle for your student to come out. Please call or email ahead of time, preferably 30 minutes before the time you will be here so we have time to locate your student and get them a pass. This also helps with students who are in PE and may be out on the track and will need to come in and change.
Please call 402-898-0436 or email Teresa Vincent, attendance email@example.com
Visitors to the BuildingVisitors will be greeted through the intercom/doorbell system with screening questions. Our secretaries are required to ask these questions. If you have something to drop off, we may ask you to leave it in a bin located outside and we will come retrieve it. Depending on other needs, we will work with you on the best way to meet your needs while also limiting visitors to the building. An appointment or phone call will need to be made if you are needing to come into the building and a mask will be required.
Please make sure when you are dropping items off, you have your student's name on it.Having items, especially personal items in bags would appreciated.
MAKE SCREENING PART OF YOUR MORNING ROUTINE!
Daily Screening Guidelines
All families will need to complete a daily screening prior to arriving at school each day.
It is VERY critical that if showing any symptom - stay home.
Do your part to keep everyone healthy and safe. Complete the daily screener honestly!
PLCS Partners with Children's Hospital & Medical Center to help families conduct daily screening for COVID-19
Through a partnership with Children's Hospital, all PLCS families will have access to a screening app that can be completed daily on your phone or any device. This screening tool will walk families through a series of questions and give you action steps that need to be taken based on your answers. Daily screening is critical in keeping all students and staff healthy and in school.

With the COVID-19 outbreak, please continue to review handwashing skills with your student. Handwashing is one of the best ways to protect yourself and your family from getting sick. Wash your hands often to stay healthy.
Follow these five steps every time you wash your hands. If soap and water are not available, you can use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol. You can tell if the sanitizer contains at least 60% alcohol by looking at the product label.
1. Wet your hands with clean, running water (warm or cold), turn off the tap, and apply soap.
2. Lather your hands by rubbing them together with the soap. Lather the backs of your hands, between your fingers, and under your nails.
3. Scrub your hands for at least 20 seconds. Need a timer? Hum the “Happy Birthday” song from beginning to end twice.
4. Rinse your hands well under clean, running water.
5. Dry your hands using a clean towel or air dry them.
Here is a great video from the CDC explaining handwashing as well: https://youtu.be/eZw4Ga3jg3E
