Papillion La Vista Community Schools will be closed starting March 23 with no designated return date at this time. We will be working with local and state health officials to re-evaluate the closure every two weeks.

First off, I hope everyone is doing well as we adjust to a new way of operating for the next several weeks. I want to thank everyone for their patience and understanding.
By now, hopefully you have seen the communication from the district in regard to curriculum and keeping your child's brain active. We encourage students to familiarize themselves and complete activities within the district Padlet (https://padlet.com/Julee_Sauer/v3aoo9e604px). The focus right now is on maintenance and enrichment of learning. This week our staff has been working extremely hard in order to adjust to how will be doing education for the near future.
A concern we want to be mindful of is the amount of information you may be receiving, especially if you have students throughout different buildings and grade levels. To help streamline communication, we will be following the plan outlined below:
Monday: The PMS Post (our weekly newsletter) will be emailed on Monday at 7 a.m. each week. This will include school updates, general announcements, and an outline of teacher suggested enrichment activities for the week. These activities will be posted on Padlet and will be available as paper packets for students with limited technology access. These weekly packets can be picked up in the North Entrance of PMS from 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday – Friday.
Tuesday: The Team Newsletter from your student’s core academic team will be communicated each week. This is a continuation of the weekly message you have received throughout the year from your student’s teachers and will help to build a direct connection between them, yourself, and your student.
Thursday: The Principal’s Office web series on YouTube will be shared with you through email and posted to our social media channels (Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram) on Thursdays at Noon. This will give Mr. Bails and me an opportunity to answer questions, provide updates, and generally spread positivity to our Papillion Middle School families and community.
One more thing: We know that every household is different and these stressful times may limit access to technology in the home. Whether that be lack of internet or technology devices. In order to serve all of our families, please email Assistant Principal Joel Bails at firstname.lastname@example.org if you will need a paper copy of the weekly activities. This will help ensure that we print the required amount each week. In addition, if you are unable to pick up these weekly packets at Papillion Middle School, please let us know so that we can accommodate your family’s needs throughout the coming weeks.
Finally, this is new territory for all of us and our goal is to provide opportunity for practice and enrichment in a manner that everyone is able to manage. The objective right now is that everyone stay safe and healthy and we maintain learning as much as possible.
If you have any questions or concerns, please let us know and we are happy to help. We so appreciate your patience and understanding as we all work through this time together.

The PRIDE store could use some restocking. The PBIS team would gladly accept donations of $5 gift cards to shops or restaurants, school supplies, locker décor, gum, or any other item you think a teenager would enjoy. We will also accept cash. Thank you for your continued support!
Titan Wear may be purchased in the 8th Grade Office. All day, every day. Get a Spirit Pak for only $40. (consists of a hoodie, a t-shirt, and a bag or socks or a cap)
If your student will not be at school, a parent or guardian needs to contact the school @ 402-898-0424 to report the absence. You may also e-mail email@example.com with your absences. Please notify the school prior to 8:30am. A message may be left if the line is busy or after regular school hours. A student will be considered “unexcused” if the absence is not confirmed.
Parents should try to avoid taking students out of school for appointments if possible. If it is necessary, it is helpful if you call ahead or have your student bring a note to the front office when they arrive at school. If you wish to have the absence waived, your child may bring a signed note from the doctor when they return to school.
